According to legend, the king of ancient Iberia, Vakhtang Gorgasali, once hunted in the forests near the first capital of Georgia - Mtskheta. After some time, the king noticed a pheasant and, having shot, killed the bird. He sent his falcon to pick up the prey when he found it. The falcon flew away, and after a while the king lost sight of it. In search of a bird, Vakhtang Gorgasali, together with his hunters, came across a source, and saw that the falcon had landed in it along with the killed prey. The spring turned out to be hot, and the king, amazed by such a find, decided to build a city here, foreseeing huge benefits in such a location. In addition to hot waters, the area had many important factors for building a city: a sheltered position between mountains, a location on a trade route, as well as strategically advantageous factors. So, according to legend, the city of Tbilisi was founded. The word "tbili" in translation from Georgian means "warm". Tbilisi is a city of warm springs.
